The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board awarded Program Accreditation to the Law Enforcement Instructor Training Program (LEITP). The LEITP is an advanced training program designed to meet the certification and accreditation needs of all law enforcement instructors teaching at the FLETC. The program introduces participants to concepts in student-centered learning and a variety of instructional methodologies.
FLETA Board Member Ed Winslow of the Naval Criminal Investigation Service reported that “the FLETA Board voted unanimously to award FLETA accreditation to the LEITP.”
The FLETA Assessment Team identified FLETC’s goldenrod color cross reference sheet listing Documented Administrative Control resources as a best practice. Resembling an index file, these resources were identified by color-coded tabs. The coding, referencing and highlighting made large, complicated folders easy to navigate and assess.
The LEITP is trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco GA.
FLETA is Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation guided by a vision to promote excellence in law enforcement training/operations. FLETA focuses on the need to provide well trained Federal agents and officers who are professional, safe and competent fostering public confidence in Federal law enforcement in the United States and around the world.
In 2002, the FLETA Board consisting of Federal executives and senior managers with policy-making authority for federal law enforcement training was appointed. Currently, FLETA has almost one hundred applications from agencies for academies and programs to achieve accreditation.
The FLETA website (www.fleta.gov) provides information about the FLETA accreditation process, forms, publications, training and upcoming events.
