Wade Creighton began his position as the National Training Coordinator and Accreditation Manager for the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), Office of Law Enforcement and Security (OLES), National Law Enforcement Training Office on April 21, 2024. Mr. Creighton’s office is located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) in Glynco, GA.
Wade comes to OLES position with a wealth of knowledge and over 20 years of law enforcement experience. He is an enrolled member of the Little Shell band of Chippewa Indians and was raised on the Ft. Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Reservation in Montana. Mr. Creighton previously served as the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)-Office of Justice Services (OJS) Chief of Training of the United States Indian Police Academy (USIPA).
In 2004, he began working several positions for the Fort Peck Department of Law and Justice (FPDLJ) including patrol officer, Criminal Investigator assigned to Crimes against Women and Family, then promoted to Drug Investigator where he commanded a four county Drug Task Force. He joined the OJS in 2014 as a uniformed police officer at the Crow Agency. Throughout his 10 years of OJS service, he has also served as a Training Lieutenant, Special Agent, Acting Chief of Police/Supervisory Special Agent, and most recently for the past year, served as the Division Chief of the United States Indian Police Academy Division.
Wade is a graduate of the Basic Police Officer Training Program, Criminal Investigation Training Program, numerous advanced law enforcement training programs related to police services, investigations, training, leadership, and holds numerous instructor titles. Wade also completed the FBI – LEEDA Trilogy. Wade holds a bachelor’s degree from Colorado Christian University in Organizational Management and a minor in Human Resources.
Mr. Creighton is a retired Combat Veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge serving as an M1 Abrams Tank Platoon Sergeant. Throughout his career, Wade has enjoyed leadership with a focus on employee development to better the future generations of Indian Country Law Enforcement. Mr. Creighton is married to Dr. Xan Creighton (Clinical Psychologist) of 33 years. Together they have 5 children and 3 grandchildren.
