FLETA Board Grants Accreditation to the USPP ASB

For Immediate Release

FLETA Board Grants Accreditation to the USPP ASB

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board is pleased to announce it granted accreditation status to the United States Park Police (USPP) Agency Specific Basic (ASB) at the November 7, 2024, meeting.

The ASB is designed to provide USPP specific training and knowledge on Force authority, jurisdiction, statues, regulations, policy, and procedures. Also, the ASB program provides additional law enforcement training not covered in the FLETC basic program. The ASB is a bridge program to prepare UPTP graduates for field training. The USPP ASB is 26 instructional days and consists of 206 hours of instruction and 12.5 hours of administrative functions. The average number of students per iteration of the program is 24.

The FLETA Board is the accrediting body for all federal law enforcement training and support programs. To achieve accreditation, training organizations submit to an independent review of their program and/or academy to ensure compliance with the FLETA Standards and Procedures in the areas of Administration, Training Staff, Training Development, and Training Delivery. Accreditation is a cyclical process occurring every five years. Each year, training organizations must submit annual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, which is a new and independent review of the program/academy.
