FLETA Board Grants Reaccreditation to the VA LETC DAFCPA
The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board is pleased to announce it granted reaccreditation status to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC) Department of the Air Force Civilian Police Academy (DAFCPA) at the April 15, 2021 meeting.
The purpose of the DAFCPA is to prepare the officers to perform most tasks with assistance. The course is designed to provide students necessary entry-level skills, regardless of prior experience. The scope of the DAFCPA encompasses DAF rules, policies, and procedures for the proper exercise of law enforcement authority; those laws and rules to be enforced on Air Force installations. The DAFCPA is 50 instructional days and consists of 400 hours of instruction. The average number of students per iteration of the program is 40.
The FLETA Board is the accrediting body for all federal law enforcement training and support programs. To achieve accreditation, agencies submit to an independent review of their academy and/or program to ensure compliance with the FLETA standards and procedures in the areas of Academy/Program Administration, Training Staff, Training Development, and Training Delivery. Accreditation is a cyclical process occurring every five years. Each year, agencies must submit annual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, which is a new and independent review of the academy/program.
