The purpose of the Basic Special Agent Course program is to provide an orientation and training to newly appointed Diplomatic Security Special Agent candidates and prepares them for domestic duty with the Department of State. It represents the baseline training for special agents and is designed to produce a Special Agent who can perform at the basic level upon graduation from the Academy. The Basic Special Agent Course is 63 instructional days and consists of 500 hours of instruction. The average number of students per iteration of the program is 24.
