The purpose of the ITBO is to provide recently hired Marine Interdiction Agents with training and instruction on crew resource management, felony boarding procedures, marine-specific defensive tactics and techniques, close quarters tactical movement and weapon retention, the use of the pepper ball launching system in the maritime environment, and force-on-force scenario-based training. The ITBO is 14 instructional days and consists of 112 hours of instruction. The average number of students per iteration of the program is 12.
