FLETA Board Grants Accreditation to the TSA TCAC FITP
The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board is pleased to announce it granted initial accreditation status to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Training Center Atlantic City (TCAC) Firearms Instructor Training Program (FITP) at the November 7, 2024, meeting.
The purpose of the Firearms Instructor Training Program is to train Federal Air Marshals to effectively teach the Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS) Firearms Curriculum to students and provide effective coaching during practical exercises on the firing ranges at the TSA Training Center Atlantic City or a FAMS field office. The program is delivered almost exclusively on firing ranges. The program is 10 instructional days and consists of 80 hours of instruction. The average number of students per iteration of the program is 12.
The FLETA Board is the accrediting body for all federal law enforcement training and support programs. To achieve accreditation, training organizations submit to an independent review of their program and/or academy to ensure compliance with the FLETA Standards and Procedures in the areas of Administration, Training Staff, Training Development, and Training Delivery. Accreditation is a cyclical process occurring every five years. Each year, training organizations must submit annual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, which is a new and independent review of the program/academy.
