Mrs. Halsey joined the Office of Accreditation as a Program Manager in January 2011. Prior to joining the FLETA team, she served as an Accreditation Manager with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Field Operations Academy where she attained accreditation for the Academy and five basic programs. In addition, she was the policy program manager and provided guidance to academy managers and staff on the Instructional Systems Design process.
In June 2005, Mrs. Halsey transferred to the CBP Field Operations Academy from CBP Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where she served as the Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Office of Public Affairs, in a temporary and permanent status since August 2003. In her Public Affairs leadership roles, Mrs. Halsey was the senior press advisor to the Commissioner; was responsible for creating and implementing the agency’s national strategic communications plan; planned, executed, and managed communications for initiatives impacting a worldwide audience; and led a team of over 50 professionals nationwide.
Mrs. Halsey joined the U.S. Customs Service in March 2001. Before coming to work for the government, she worked in the television industry for ABC, CBS, and the NBC News bureau in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Halsey is a former United States Marine, serving from 1991 – 1995, holds a Bachelor of Arts from Thomas Edison State College, and a Bachelor of Science in Adult Learning from Bellevue University.
